Designer Putt Putt, 2017
For the 2017 Detroit Design Festival’s Designer Putt Putt competition, I collaborated on an Sci-fi inspired putting green with my good friend Stephen Busscher. Our concept was to create an otherworldy landscape scene, where the skeletal remains of an unknown lifeform had been uncovered, creating a feature where the ball would have to go under these ‘ribs’. Next, the ball would need to travel up a small ramp, and through a tube before landing on the island with the hole. Together we created a proposal that was selected as one of the five winning entries. We fabricated the green and brought it to two activations as part of 2017 DDF – Eastern Market After Dark and Light Up Livernois. The green is constructed with plywood, artificial turf, spray foam, bondo, and real tropical plants and was designed to break down into four sections for transportation. The green was enjoyed by many people of all ages throughtout both events!
