For the 2017 Detroit Design Festival’s Designer Putt Putt competition, I collaborated on an Sci-fi inspired putting green with my friend Stephen Busscher. Our concept was to create an otherworldy landscape scene, where the skeletal remains of an unknown lifeform had been uncovered, creating a feature where the ball would have to go under these ‘ribs’. Next, the ball would need to travel up a small ramp, and through a tube before landing on the island with the hole. Together we created a proposal that was selected as one of the five winning entries. We fabricated the green and brought it to two activations as part of 2017 DDF – Eastern Market After Dark and Light Up Livernois. The green is constructed with plywood, spray foam, bondo, and real tropical plants. The green was enjoyed by many people of all ages!
